英文an amount of/the amount of用法(Usage of an amount of/the amount of in English)

在學英文時，常常會把an amount of、the amount of、amounts of搞混，後面要加的動詞到底是根據單數還是複數。而這三個都是要加不可數名詞(下面以Nu為代號)。

an amount of表示｢一些...」，因為是指一些東西，因為是不可數名詞，所以動詞也要用單數。

an amount of+Nu+動詞(單數)

An amount of milk is in the bottle.(瓶子裡有一些牛奶)

the amount of表示｢...的數量」，用於表達某樣東西的｢數量」，所以動詞用單數。

the amount of+Nu+動詞(單數)

The amount of oil is 10 million barrels.(石油的數量是1000萬桶)

amounts of表示｢很多...、大量...」，既然是很多，而且amounts也加了s，所以動詞也要用複數。

amounts of+Nu+動詞(複數)

Amounts of snow are falling down.(很多雪正在落下)
