英文a number of/the number of用法(Usage of a number of/the number of in English)

在學英文時，常常會把a number of、the number of、numbers of搞混，後面要加的動詞到底是根據單數還是複數。而這三個都是要加複數可數名詞(下面以Ns為代號)。

a number of表示｢一些...」，因為是指一些東西，所以動詞也要用複數。

a number of+Ns+動詞(複數)

A number of people join the party this night.(一些人參加了今晚的派對)

the number of表示｢...的數量」，用於表達某樣東西的｢數量」，所以動詞用單數。

the number of+Ns+動詞(單數)

The number of apples is 7.(蘋果的數量是7個)

numbers of表示｢很多...、大量...」，既然是很多，而且numbers也加了s，所以動詞也要用複數。

numbers of+Ns+動詞(複數)

Numbers of people join  the party this night.(很多人參加了今晚的派對)
